My name is Dr. med. Kalpana Bandecar. I am an allopathic and Ayurvedic doctor in Berlin, specialized in Ayurveda Medicine, Panchakarma treatments and Yogatherapy. Since 2004 I am working as an Ayurvedic doctor in Germany.
Ayurveda is my life philosophy and my destiny. Born in Germany and educated by my Indian family, I grew up in two worlds: in modern Europe and in the ancient Indian-Vedic universe of my ancestors. I know all about Nutella and Pizza as well as curries and ginger. In my profession as a medical doctor I also cover two systems: western medicine and the universal Ayurvedic medicine. In both fields I got extensive experience, and deep knowledge.
Since my childhood I am living according to Ayurveda, thanks to my Indian parents. Even though, they were far away from their homeland India, in Germany they remained true to their traditional way of life. They showed me, how to stay healthy with the right nutrition, herbs and spices from the kitchen and how to correct imbalances of health before a severe disease develops. I have always been curious how nature and the universe works.
To gain more knowledge, I initially took the scientific path and became a physician, like many in my family. Many years I worked in allopathic hospitals in Internal medicine, Cardiology, Surgery, Gynecology and Obstetrics, I gained lots of practical experiences and brought me closer to the diversity of human nature – with all joys and sufferings of humanity. This also revealed to me the limitations of modern conventional medicine – especially when it comes to chronic illnesses, where the symptoms are treated but rarely the real causes.
The movie “Ayurveda – the Art of Being” by Pan Nalin, about the ancient system of Ayurveda Medicine, hit me right in the heart and changed my life. This was the healthcare system I was always been looking for: A medicine system that gets to the bottom of the causes and works according to the universal principles of nature. During the movie, I made the decision, to dedicate my life to Ayurveda. I feel aligned with my medical journey from western Medicine to Ayurvedic Medicine – the best from both systems is the key for our future medicine.
I studied and worked in Ayurveda Medicine and Panchakarma at the P.S. Patel Ayurvedic University and hospital in Nadiad/India under the directory of the famous Ayurvedic doctor Prof. Dr. S.N. Gupta, which already won several awards and gold medals. Dr. Gupta became my teacher. This was the greatest gift for me, to learn all these amazing wisdom from a master. I got a deep understanding of the ayurvedic wisdom, which is beyond this world. Since then Ayurveda is my life and destiny.
After a while I realized that I would also work on prevention from diseases. In order to have better communication skills I studied medicine journalism. Since then, I have published many articles on holistic and Ayurvedic Medicine in medical and Ayurveda journals and written two books. I currently published my free lifestyle magazine HAPPY NEW EARTH.
My mission is to teach as much people as possible about the benefit of Ayurveda lifestyle and treatment. I am also very creative in finding practical and realistic solutions to implement healthy habits into the daily life of western lifestyle, where work is still more important than health.
